X ALGORITHM UPDATE 🚨 X just changed their open source algo scores for the first time in 6 releases (I check it daily with Claude and share worthy updates with you) tl;dr: tapping into your post: 0.4 → 0.3 score staying 10+ seconds after the tap: 0 → 0.4 score lesson learned: create content worth staying on for at least 10 seconds, better than tap & leave posts. full details: - The tap is worth less, the read is worth more Someone tapping into your post used to score 0.4. Now it's 0.3. But there's a brand new score: that person staying on it for more than 10 seconds after the tap. That's worth 0.4, and it used to be 0. So a tap followed by a proper read is now worth 0.7 instead of 0.4. A tap where they bail straight away is worth less than before. Clickbait just got weaker. Posts that deliver got stronger. - "Not interested" now hurts 10% more Went from -43.2 to -47.52. The more likely someone is to hide your post, the more it costs you. - Good news! The fresh posts pool got closer X has defined a pool for new posts that haven't taken off yet: under 8 likes, under 500 views, up to 2 hours old. This week X removed the rule that would have scored those posts 0 for most people. It's still switched off, but that's the fourth step in ten days. When it goes live, I'll tell you. - Insults now hide your post from non-followers everywhere Before, an insult label only kept the post out of recommendations. Now non-followers don't see it anywhere it shows up. It's live. Every time someone opens For You, X now pulls up to 200 posts from a pool of new stuff: under 8 likes, under 500 views, up to 2 hours old. Your post still has to be good enough to get shown. But until now a brand new post with no likes had no lane of its own. Now it does. - The small account boost now goes up to 50K followers It used to stop at 1,000. Now any account up to 50,000 followers can get it. It lifts one fresh original post to around 16th in someone's feed. - But it only lasts 2 hours The post has to be under 2 hours old (was 48) and have under 200 views from home feeds (was 1,000). After that you're on your own. - The winner is picked by like rate Before, the highest scoring post won. Now X looks at how many of the people who've seen your post liked it, adds a bit of randomness so brand new posts still get a shot, and picks from the best two. So the first people who see your post decide a lot. - Under 1,000 followers? X ALGORITHM UPDATE 🚨 X just changed four scores in two days, and likes are the big winner (I check it daily with Claude and share worthy updates with you) tl;dr: - likes: 0.5 → 0.66 - time spent on your post: 0.004 → 0.006 - tapping to open a video: 0.07 → 0.02 - "not interested": -47.52 → -52.27 lesson learned: posts people like and actually read win. A video people tap and scroll past barely counts anymore. full details: - Likes got two raises in two days 0.5 went to 0.6, then to 0.66 the next day. That's 32% more for every like. And remember, likes already decide which post wins the small account boost (the like rate from your first viewers). So a like now counts twice. - Time spent on your post counts 50% more The score for how long people are predicted to spend on your post went from 0.004 to 0.006. That's on top of the "stayed 10+ seconds after tapping in" score from two weeks ago, still worth 0.4. It also looks like X now searches for posts you're likely to spend time on when filling your feed, not just posts you'd like. - Video taps barely count now Tapping to open a video dropped from 0.07 to 0.02. Watching it was already 0. So there's almost no special score for video left. A video has to win like any other post: likes, time spent, replies, shares. - "Not interested" got its second 10% raise in two weeks -43.2, then -47.52, now -52.27.
