🚨 BREAKING: Google have announced Gemini 4 Argon, their new flagship model currently being tested in partnership with the US Government before a wider launch It's the new best model in the world. What a turnaround https://t.co/tjptAnwPvz https://t.co/Pil8dZ2onDfrozen22d ago833K2.4K120135773060.36%
Claude Opus 5.5 is a very, very good model. Practically everyone at OpenAI was caught off-guard by this launch (not the timing, but the performance of the model!), and there's now a pretty "all hands on deck" atmosphere for 6.1 Astra - timelines are being compressed. But it'll face Fable 5.5! The RL magic really needs to do its work herefrozen29d ago563K5.6K17624754

I shouldn't even have to say this, but this post is complete BS. No, DeepMind aren't suddenly going to drop a model that outperforms Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Astra at ~half the price and the largest context window 💀frozen25d ago289K2.4K40127161500.95%
Muse Wonder, Meta's Fable-class model, is out. It scores 56 on AA's Intelligence Index, putting it 2 points below SOTA (Opus 5.5), and overall the 2nd best model in the world per the Index! https://t.co/ChTv4Xy8KWfrozen10d ago266K2.3K9289642021.02%

Well hello there GPT-6.1 Sol https://t.co/BF40ouykKDfrozen23d ago235K1.5K485223890.73%
Looks like OpenAI leaked it before I could (lol). One of their big DevDay launches is "o", a competitor to products like Grok Bot and Hermes Agent, powered by a variant of Astra called "aeon" designed to be better at long-running tasks. This has been in the works for months but xAI beat them to itfrozen27d ago209K1.8K50133282381.06%
And yes, for those asking, I'm told Fable 5.5 is slated for this week. I wouldn't be surprised if it dropped today but later in the week is also a possibility, barring any late hold-ups Better yet (and at long last!), OpenAI intend to ship 6.1 Astra during their 28 Days of Shipping this month Enjoy your brief time in the limelight little Argon 🫶frozen9d ago199K1.7K6759221451.00%
Claude Sonnet 5.5 scores 56 on Artificial Analysis' Intelligence Index. That puts it behind only Claude Opus 5.5, above GPT-6 Astra and miles above GPT-6 Sol. Pretty nuts. https://t.co/3xIUoI33OJfrozen24d ago195K2.3K101100531741.42%
As suspected, Anthropic's subscriptions offer over 5X the value of OpenAI's (vs the equivalent API pricing) when using mid-tier models OpenAI offers very slightly more usage of Astra vs Anthropic's Fable 5.5 offering in Pro & Max 20x plans respectively Choose wisely! https://t.co/8GTsJ5vL8gfrozen17d ago184K2.2K101180623911.58%

Hey, remember Argon? Been a while Well, this week is the week - for Argon and perhaps some other goodies!frozen10d ago171K1.4K269424580.95%
Using Claude regularly again has made obvious one of the biggest differences between Anthropic and OpenAI models: taste GPT (Astra included) just doesn't really compete. Sure, you can get ~similar quality outputs with enough prompting, time and effort, but Opus 5.5 just combines great taste, intuition and vision in a way no model before it has. While being incredibly usage-light in Claude subs, something that cannot be said about Astra A big step in the right direction in all sorts of ways for Anthropic, and I'm excited to see what they have in store soon for Haiku, Sonnet and Fablefrozen28d ago167K3.6K86161223632.50%
Well, if you were getting excited for a new frontier model from OpenAI anytime soon, bad news. GPT-6.1 Astra's planned October release has been scrapped https://t.co/Y2TMaig0NTfrozen24d ago166K1.7K55156661341.25%
In case you were wondering, GPT-6.1 Sol is just renamed GPT-6 Astra Minor They had to do something about the botched 6 Sol launch, but it's still pretty embarrassing to have to replace a model a WEEK after it dropped and it's still not Astra level, nevermind Opus 5.5 levelfrozen23d ago151K2.2K538471581.67%
GPT-6 Astra Ultrafast is an absolutely outrageous $60/$300 per Mtok btw https://t.co/rvj9nXZqBxfrozen23d ago140K1.9K3075211171.50%
Now this, my friends, is what happens when you sit on your models too long If you snooze, you lose. Better luck next time DeepMind https://t.co/kMnzXfOwcUfrozen10d ago139K2.0K4881101471.67%
Very much an uphill battle for OpenAI over the coming weeks. Imo it's 6.1 Astra tomorrow or bust - Fable 5.5 is on its way and coming sooner than most people expect, and considering the 5.x -> 5.5 leaps we've been observing across smaller classes, it's going to be a beast. *Haiku* 5.5 is likely to beat 6 Sol. Though Anthropic's biggest weakness is still token efficiency, where OpenAI continue to have the advantage In any case, I would expect a successor to 6 Astra next month at the latest. But will further RL be enough or does their next pretrain need to be wheeled out?frozen24d ago126K1.7K4679151441.56%

🚨 Looks like Meta's Fable-class model, "Muse Wonder", is rolling out at $4 in, $20 out per Mtok. "Wonder Full" (max reasoning) only available for MuseCode Power & Maximum Usage plans. 1M context. https://t.co/LtiDPkzi4Kfrozen10d ago98K927272612901.11%
It's gonna be pretty funny when Gemini 4 Argon launches for the public, underperforms relative to its benchmarks like almost all Gemini models, and is then beaten by new Anthropic and OpenAI models this month. I'd like to be proved wrong though Happy October! Gonna be a fun one https://t.co/HyjVaXtBjOfrozen21d ago94K1.6K2710081091.99%

For what it's worth, I've observed ~0 change in Opus 5.5's performance. I think in a lot of cases it's just people discovering weaker areas and edge cases in the days after a model's initial honeymoonfrozen27d ago86K1.9K3486111112.44%
Well I think that does it! Goodbye Pro 20x. Sorry, I mean 10x now, apparently. https://t.co/R3773QqsLufrozen24d ago85K2.2K581078852.91%
fable 5.5 needs to be really, really good to justify using it over opus given how much usage it burns, and i don't know if it's going to be that much better than it tbh (they could also go the price cut + a bit better route!)frozen7d ago84K1.7K13617712.15%

Heard lots about this one - Watermelon is Meta's Fable class model, in the works for months now. Should be very good and seems to be around the corner with lots of little teasers from people at Meta today. Exciting! https://t.co/Hf9ybRj8NSfrozen10d ago76K89717345581.33%

Why does Astra (and every GPT model, for that matter) feel the need to force obnoxious one-liners and text everywhere? It's so bad, one of the biggest giveaways of GPT-generated content, and it even extends to GPT-Image 🫩frozen27d ago70K1.3K10536852.05%
Genuinely what are we measuring here? Wtf is "power"? How can you even call this a benchmark if there's 0 insight into methodology and all you provide is vague detail? Anthropic are on a cooking spree. Sonnet 5.5 is here and it's only slightly worse than Opus 5.5, and in some areas even outperforms it, at a price point of $2 per Mtok in and $10 per Mtok out. A leap over Sonnet 5 🫡 https://t.co/KaOQnwEt5Ffrozen24d ago67K2.2K8067241473.77%

Lots of (for now hidden) Argon-related strings added to Gemini web builds yesterday. 👀 Google's work on Argon continues, with their latest dogfood checkpoint apparently comparable to Claude Opus 5.5 in code tasks Carbon "feels like Opus 5.5" for coding, per an employee who has tested the model, though they said they "would need to test it more"frozen13d ago64K62711256541.12%

The last few weeks are an apt reminder of how quickly the script can be flipped Though today's DevDay will be interesting for sure, unlimited Sol & Luna for Pro plans just isn't going to make up for halved Astra limits, and a new $500 tier is a bit silly when their models are lagging behind Anthropic's (publicly anyways) Although it's somewhat controversial, Anthropic's safety work has meant they've outpaced OpenAI's ability to ship frontier models safely. It's rather embarrassing that a $1T+ company let thousands of agents roam almost entirely unmonitored and only began doing things about it after some of the malicious activities said agents got up to began garnering public attention. They're going to try and make up for recent floundering with a lot of products and price cuts today, but if you don't ship your best models there's only so far that can take youfrozen23d ago57K1.4K416791042.91%
With OpenAI's 2026 DevDay coming up, let's pay an ode to DevDay 2023 - OpenAI's first DevDay, where they announced GPT-4 Turbo, GPTs and the GPT Store, and broader access to GPT-4's vision Sam was fired as OpenAI CEO by its Board of Directors just 11 days later. Underappreciated how OpenAI dropped GPT-Image 2 and literally no competing model has been able to decisively beat it even 6 months later! Had some hope for Google but fumbled w/ Nano Banana 2.1, though a bigger image model is in the works at GDM coming soon(tm) https://t.co/IQmZfjhHnx1d ago45K96324645712.49%
I dropped $5 to test Argon on my niche US politics knowledge question that has eluded every model except the Fable currently being stealth tested. If there's one thing Argon should be getting right it's this! But it got it wrong and hallucinated 🥀frozen9d ago44K86815220612.18%

I have to say though... if they're going to take forever to get it in public hands, and if you combine that with Google's 100% pre-launch nerf rate, Argon is going to look thoroughly meh by the time it's usable Much love to the Google bureaucracy!frozen13d ago38K95217312532.80%
how are we falling for this.. come on now, tibo is not going to have set up a “https://t.co/p0RV9PQekc” with a stripe donation form 🤦‍♂️ even if the person behind this has since removed that. clever from the person who created it because some accounts will just amplify anything! https://t.co/s8mRjYauJr3d ago37K5679398341.78%

Gemini 4 Argon is the new state-of-the-art on SimpleQA Verified, a world knowledge benchmark that in my experience has reflected my personal vibes-based judgement Super impressive that 3.1 Pro held up for so long though! today, @krea_ai are launching Krea 3 - nano banana pro quality, 4x faster, at a quarter of the cost!! it's built for fast image editing - e.g. you can give it a character, a product shot or a pile of references and you get high quality edits back in under 8 seconds, at the pareto frontier so you can afford to try lots of variations before picking one. it's been very fun to experiment with and i like to see things from less mainstream labs! you can try it now at https://t.co/7BhhQ5wcn1 🫡frozen7d ago25K2928120641.51%

step 5 preview from @stepfun_ai spent an hour building me this cool little snow globe and iterated against the small details, constantly checking its work! it zoomed in on its own tiny cottages to check nothing was clipping, & even made a histogram to verify the snow falls from the very top the best part? the api bill was $2.26, for about an hour of work! that's the pareto frontier at just $1 in/$2.70 out per million tokens step 5 preview is now on openrouter and available in kilo code, cline, hermes agent, and opencode so you can keep your workflow and just switch models. more integrations to come :3 try step 5 preview on openrouter - https://t.co/hQyw39ckOnfrozen14d ago16K166061191.21%
