Each blue dot is one organic post. The Performance Score ranks by the median (104K), not the mean (198K) — so a single viral post doesn't inflate a creator's reach. The p25 floor (37K) is the level 75% of posts clear.

Neerja Bhanot was a 22 year old flight attendant on a hijacked plane, Pan Am Flight 73 on 5 September 1986 during a stopover The terrorists demanded her to collect the passports of all the passengers, intending to identify the Americans among them. Recognising the danger this posed, she and her fellow attendants under her charge hid the passports of the American passengers, some under seats and others down a garbage chute, making it difficult for the hijackers to distinguish between nationalities. As the hijacking stretched on for 17 hours the terrorists eventually resorted to violence by opening fire and setting off explosives. Chaos erupted inside the aircraft Neerja opened one of the airplane doors, and even though she could have been the first one to escape from the aircraft, she did not do so and instead started helping the other passengers and unaccompanied children. That is when she was caught and her courage was met with extreme cruelty. She was killed. Neerja's actions saved many lives. In addition to saving the lives of many hostages, Neerja Bhanot also helped prevent the plane from getting off the ground A young child on board, who was just seven years old at the time, grew up to become a captain for a major airline. He credits Neerja as his inspiration, acknowledging that he owes every day of his life to herfrozen22d ago252K7.3K1.2K102613283.53%

A single dose of a new cancer drug made a brain tumor almost disappear in just 5 days In early 2024, doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital treated three people with recurrent glioblastoma brain tumour using a brand-new type of CAR T-cell therapy called CARv3-TEAM-E. The treatment is made from each patient’s own immune cells, which are taken out, genetically rewired in the lab to recognize two different markers commonly found on glioblastoma cells, and then infused directly into the fluid spaces of the brain through a single procedure. The results were stunning and much faster than anyone expected: In one patient, MRI scans taken just five days after the single infusion showed the tumor had almost completely vanished. A second patient had more than 60 % of the tumor disappear, and that shrinkage lasted for over six months. The third patient also had clear tumor reduction within days. These responses happened far more quickly and dramatically than anything seen before with immunotherapy for this type of brain cancer. Doctors described the early images as “jaw-dropping.frozen6d ago156K3.3K55258208963.09%

No CGI. Just a real robotic hand, a real needle, and real silk. Scientists reprogrammed leukemia to switch itself off, and it worked Researchers at the Institut Pasteur developed a new approach that changes how malignant B-cell leukemia shuts itself down, while also drawing the immune system into action. Most treatments try to remove cancer cells directly, but this method works by triggering a process that sends strong warning signals to immune cells, helping the body recognize and clear the disease. This response normally does not occur in B-cell leukemia because a key molecular component is missing. By combining three clinically used compounds, the researchers were able to work around this limitation and activate the immune response. Using advanced imaging in preclinical models, they observed immune cells rapidly moving in and clearing the leukemia. In these experiments, the disease did not just lessen, it was completely cleared. Although this approach has not yet been tested in patients, the findings point to a promising strategy that relies on immune-mediated tumor control, with the potential for faster clinical evaluation because existing compounds were used.frozen11d ago93K1.5K35141103362.39%

Scientists have found that trees may help detect volcanic eruptions before they happen. Around 10% of the world’s population lives near active volcanoes. Predicting eruptions has always been difficult. Traditionally, scientists rely on seismic activity readings or place monitoring equipment on the volcano itself, which can be risky and expensive. Now researchers have discovered that trees growing on volcanic slopes can act as natural early warning systems. When magma starts moving underground, it releases large amounts of carbon dioxide (CO₂). This gas escapes through the soil long before lava reaches the surface. While it is hard for instruments to separate volcanic CO₂ from the carbon dioxide already in the atmosphere, trees respond directly to it. The extra carbon dioxide acts like a fertilizer. Trees absorb it through their roots, which can cause their leaves to become greener and more vibrant. This subtle change isn’t obvious from the ground, but satellites can detect it. NASA and Smithsonian scientists are using satellite data to monitor changes in forest “greenness” around volcanoes. By tracking these patterns, they hope to improve early eruption warnings and give communities more time to evacuate. Researchers emphasize that this method won’t replace traditional monitoring systems, but it could significantly strengthen early warning efforts. The discovery also highlights something fascinating: forests are not just part of the scenery, they actively respond to changes happening deep within the Earth.frozen6d ago34K520124177562.15%
