Any platform can assemble a bank now: Cards = a partner's issuing program Balances = a partner's charter Dollars = a stablecoin Payouts = an API Brand and margin = yours The economic unit keeps shrinking. Soon a bank is one person with a logo.

There is no Fedwire for the internet. Tempo, incubated by Stripe, is trying to build it. I spoke with @sytaylor from @tempo about why on-chain cash settlement is still less than 0.1% done, and why the next stablecoin volume may come from enterprise money movers rather than crypto-native apps. We also get into agentic commerce, x402, why consumer agents are still in the WAP-phone era, and where real B2B payment volume is showing up first.frozen23d ago2.2K1447151.40%

One of my two exceptions to tokenization skepticism is tokenized money market funds. Per Dune, tokenized cash is the largest category at ~$18B, and stocks are 8% of the market but 93% of trading. My boring favorite barely trades. Which, to be fair, is also what cash does. https://t.co/cyfKGDJZ2Ofrozen21d ago2.1K26210062.05%

I am really excited to back @infiniFi Fixed Income is the best kinds of income. Ramp is currently valued at $60 billion. That price assumes it keeps taking work away from the finance department. The product line says as much. Ramp now closes your books, tracks what you spend on AI, and routes which model answers the question. Fintech Mercury hooked its accounts and payments into AI agents, with a human tap required before money leaves. Software has handled corporate spend for years. What changes now is that it starts making the call on where the cash sits and which rail the payment takes. Banks spent a decade competing for the CFO. The CFO is increasingly a workflow with a budget attached, and it does not care about your app redesign. That is the real bet inside the valuation. Not a better card. A customer who decides where the deposits go. I wrote about it in the latest Fintech Blueprint, including the debt quietly underwriting all this conviction: https://t.co/CquCh4W8qmfrozen5d ago1.2K1517322.31%

In a past life I helped build a robo-advisor before they were cool. Now we’re teaching AI to do financial analysis, and I can feel the enthusiasm again. There’s something satisfying about watching software do work that used to take someone hours. You can see why firms want more of it. Getting people to trust it with their savings takes longer. With robo-advisors, choosing investments was only part of what people paid for. They also wanted someone to call when the market fell and they were scared. We could automate the investing. People still wanted to talk to someone. AI can do much more of the work now. But when a client wants to sell everything, I still want to know who takes that call. I suspect a fair amount of the fee will stay with whoever does.2d ago1.1K1704032.28%
Amazon blocked Muse. The "official" reason is that Meta never told Amazon that Muse would shop the store. But of course Amazon does not want to be disintermediated from its own customers by having to face an agentic avatar. Amazon can afford to turn away Muse's orders because there is no substitute for Amazon. Smaller merchants cannot defend that position when there are plenty of substitutes for their products. When an agent stands between the customer and the merchant, interface control dictates who owns the customer. Full breakdown: https://t.co/kptZtUC35Mfrozen25d ago1.0K1625152.80%

Vanguard has made exactly one acquisition in 51 years. A small direct-indexing shop in 2021. Now it is writing a $4B cash check for Altruist, an eight-year-old custodian. The logic is vertical integration. The custodian has the data, so why ship a flat file over SFTP for some other vendor to charge you to reassemble it. Own the custody and the software, earn on cash sweep, and subsidize the tech. Here's my thoughts from last month. https://t.co/ck3HK4FhPafrozen20d ago830800021.20%

Micron continues capturing cash on hardware memory demand while speculative AI tokens drop. Last week I spoke to an investment management group about the machine economy. The part I keep thinking about is junior hiring. Firms say they still need young people to learn the work. I believe them. But a firm can say that and still leave an empty seat unfilled when someone quits. AI makes that choice easier to justify, one vacancy at a time. Eventually, you have fewer people who know how to do the work without it. I’m excited by what these tools can do. I’m less comfortable with the idea that we can remove the first rung of a career ladder and somehow keep the people who would have climbed it. I wrote more about that tension, and the financial incentives behind it, in this week’s Fintech Blueprint. https://t.co/CquCh4W8qm As always, lmk what you think.3d ago699706001.86%
