The Indian economy is a curse to the Indian Common Man! I have no words! Lost more than 15% of my portfolio in just a week! Lost 2.3% of my savings in a single day. I have no words! I will be evaluating a lot of AI models on various medical use cases from now on! I always wondered... Can an AI disagree with a radiologist whoโ€™s getting it wrong? I tried Ling 3.0 Flash Sante (one of the few medical models on OpenRouter) on a synthetic mammography case. I gave it incomplete information, suggested the wrong BI-RADS, then pulled rank. Let us see how it responded!frozen15d ago98K6316195290.13%
I was in Students Union in JIPMER when this person was in RDA. Somehow I always had the gut feeling that he was spineless, politically motivated and was unfit to be in office. He spoke well so a few people liked him. He seems to be implying that protestors are mentally ill. Extremely sad (but not surprised) to see the sad soul he has become to make such insensitive comments being a doctor.frozen12d ago97K1.1K1067919721.42%
Do not be baffled by what @SauravDassss is saying! There was a point of time in my early days of medical activism when I used to be shocked when people said that administration can plant evidence or hack into your phones. After being part of so many protests for the fraternity in last few years, culminating in the RG Kar protest, where few cowards pulled out, after receiving a National Task Force lollipop, I have realised that โ€œupar se order aayegaโ€, toh kuchh bhi ho sakta hai!frozen13d ago96K73568131590.92%

๐ŸšจPost NEET PG results, I have been getting DMs from genuinely confused young doctors. As we witness AI making serious inroads into healthcare, we know the current system won't look the same after the commitment of 3 years folks are about to make. ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ As promised, wrote a short blog on choosing residency. ๐Ÿšจ I apologize to every single Radiology aspirant who switched to a different field because I along with many other radiologists felt AI was gonna come after us. I request all who want radiology to please take radiology and help us prevent the acute shortage of rads India may encounter with current progress. ๐Ÿ‘‡๐ŸฝIn this video I made for IRIA (Indian Radiology and Imaging Association), I address all common concerns regarding the impact of AI on the radiology profession in India. Here are the key takeaways: โ€ข Myth 1: AI will replace radiologists: With only about 15 radiologists per million people in India, compared to 125 in the EU, the field is severely understaffed and overworked (0:28-0:52). As diagnostic imaging, interventional radiology, and the new field of preventive radiology grow, the demand for human expertise will continue to rise (0:54-2:16). โ€ข Myth 2: AI will become fully autonomous: Current research shows that even the most advanced models, like chest X-ray triage AI, can only handle about 20% of the workload autonomously (2:38-2:55). Full automation is unlikely in the next 5 to 10 years, as human oversight remains critical for accuracy (2:57-3:10). โ€ข The Challenge of Global Models: Global AI models often underperform on local data, with studies showing many models perform at only 60% of their global capability when tested on Indian datasets (3:15-3:35). โ€ข Future Outlook: I encourage radiologists to embrace this technological shift. By learning to supervise AI models and integrate them into their workflow, radiologists can improve their efficiency, increase their impact, and thrive in the coming decades (3:37-4:04). https://t.co/MGkIkJndXPfrozen3d ago19K109992801.09%

Most supplement labels in India are designed to IMPRESS. As a doctor, I get this question ALL the time from friends, family and even colleagues: "Is this supplement worth it?" Honestly, most of the time the label itself won't tell you! I took a look at https://t.co/nW47MjSeqg this week. It takes 148 ingredients and checks each one against published HUMAN trials and for every ingredient, it tells you the dose actually studied, the upper safety limit, which form absorbs and which doesn't, and links every claim to a real source. What impressed me is that they do not look at predatory journals. (Honestly, that's a stricter filter than a lot of what I see as a peer reviewer!) It is great to partner with this team. And the website itself sells NOTHING. No ads, no affiliate links. They actually say they'd rather you read a page and decide you don't need the supplement at all! My advice to all: Check BEFORE you buy, not after! And if you are on regular medicines, pregnant, or have kidney or liver issues, please talk to your doctor first.frozen9d ago13K106750111.02%

There is going to be a healthcare and healthtech revolution in India very soon. In fact, the Indian healthcare ecosystem is extremely ripe for disruption at this point of time. Most incumbents are absolutely unaware of how it's going to happen and what's happening. Yes. VCs definitely have an idea because they are looking at the entire cohort of startups who are pitching to them, and they have a fair sense of where the field is moving. It's going to happen slowly to begin with, and then all at once. I'm not sure who will win in the end, but I do hope that it's the common people.2d ago8.8K102672171.52%

๐Ÿšจ I agree with @BrendanFoody. I am currently advising a brilliant team who is building @mercor for healthcare from India. ๐Ÿฅฒ Typically, when you go to these platforms, you will realize that Indian physicians are often not eligible, and there's a history to that also. Many times, a lot of the Indian clinicians who did the evaluations in the beginning for many labs did not do a great job and were subpar as per their quality standards (I am quoting a frontier AI startup founder). โœ… Unfortunately, that's not true throughout the country. There are a lot of clinicians from the top medical colleges of India like AIIMS, JIPMER, Manipal, etc. whom we have worked with in different academic projects and seen that they are really sincere and fantastic. It's just unfair that they don't get the opportunity to contribute to the progress of healthcare and science in the world. ๐Ÿšจ If you are a team which is looking for the best clinical experts and evaluators from the best hospitals and medical institutes in South Asia and India, who we know are fantastic and have worked with for evaluations, you should definitely reach out to us. ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ And if you are a clinician, definitely join the clinical expert groups of @CRASHLabAI, from where we identify the best people and refer them to the industry whenever such opportunities come. ๐Ÿ“Ž The link will be in my bio and once you open, click on "Join the Clinical Expert Group"!frozen6d ago2.5K29510162.02%

๐Ÿš€ So, the autonomous AI doctor has finally arrived! โœ… Utah has approved an AI to assess patients and issue initial prescriptions, a first in USA. A clinician signs off in the early phase, with a stated path to removing that review. ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ This is exactly why we started the Centre for Responsible Autonomous Systems in Healthcare (@CRASHLabAI) at @KCDH_A @AshokaUniv. ๐Ÿ“Ž Last week, together with @deoghar_aiims, in an editorial led by Dr. Pradosh Kumar Sarangi, we laid down how legal and regulatory frameworks should govern generalist and agentic AI in medical imaging as these systems gradually move towards autonomy. ๐Ÿ”Ž Our core argument: We still DO NOT KNOW how these models fail. Until we do, they need strong oversight and complete audit trails at every layer, from data and model to the AI orchestrator, clinical use and the institution deploying it. ๐Ÿšจ Now, it is high time we build these frameworks urgently. AI regulation and governance cannot keep playing catch-up with the pace of AI development we are seeing, and which we just saw in Utah. โœ… 3 shifts we argue for in the video ๐Ÿ‘‡ ๐Ÿ”— Link to article in commentsfrozen18d ago2.4K3444072.04%

So I have been speaking to a lot of RL environment startups in the last couple of days. Of course, I understand the market is crazy, but the even crazier fact is that there are absolutely no standards. This was a topic of discussion which I was having with one of the smart players who broker data from all across the world for Frontier Labs. They had reached out to explore opportunities for developing really high standards. We already have the best standards for healthcare evals, and that's the major part of the academic work which I do. But do you really think that there is a demand for standards for RL environments, or is it just something which won't matter in the long run? And who would be the people who would be willing to pay for such a standard? Very curious.19h ago1.4K1912051.87%

we are currently severely constrained by compute and patient capital (and not talent) and this is why we are failing in the AI race - we are going to witness a painful transition in the next few years - hopefully we can be resilient and pass through this together!frozen23d ago1.3K1410001.18%

Thank you to my friend @HealthcareAIGuy for the feature and honoured to be a passenger on The ElevAItor Ride, his #AIinHealthcare newsletter, on the day it turns one year old. Coincidentally, I myself turned a year older yesterday! Three things I talk about: 1. The promise on how AI could finally take high-quality care to the last mile, to rural India and other LMICs. 2. The peril of models flooding healthcare with big claims and little evidence and how this could widen inequity. 3. The path towards trusting any AI tool before use by asking two simple questions: Has it been tested on people like me? Has it been tested in my language? Congratulations on a year of building this global conversation! @CRASHLabAI @KCDH_Afrozen23d ago1.2K1142031.73%
