If you discuss / critique X on X the platform buries it, so no one will probably read this but here goes anyways: I have been on this platform for years, I started this account in 09 but didn't seriously use it till Elon bought in in Oct 22. Starting off then, things were Twitter, without the guard rails - Twitter staff had gone woke rouge, Elon purchased it and remove said rails, freeing the platform. Finally you could begin to speak truth without fear of being banned - this is what Elon promised. 22 - 24 was an amazing time - The old algo was in place, which meant you were shown to your followers and based on actual metrics, your post was shown to others; Growth was quick, average gains in followers daily was 1 - 2K on a normal day. Posts were seen, followers and non alike. This is back when I had sub 100k followers too, engagement was 100x better with 10x less followers. Monetization entered the picture in early 23, which drove people to want to interact and engage more - comments were rewarded, engagement was excellent, people had fun interacting and getting rewarded for it. 25 is when things started changing - Grok spawned in and started being trained / used to help govern the platform. Heuristics and organic triggers that were once used to run the platform started to be phased out in favor of Ai running the show. Nakita also joined in the fun, encouraging users to shut their mouths or be punished. 26 started much like 25, with Nakita continuing to berate users, belittle them, humiliate them, all while training the current staff to do the same and be like him - what a great role model. Mid 26 Grok fully took over the algo - no more organic growth, reach, traction, anything. The AI overlord now is in complete control of the system here. Reach? Growth? You must grovel at the AI god or you will be relegated to the corner. Nakita finally tapped out but not before training an army of clones to do his bidding, and scrapping the old payout system. The new payout system effectively fixed nothing except to demoralize people and let them know they were not worthy of being paid for their thoughts, even though previously they were. Yay for moralie! And here we are now - A platform completely governed by Ai, which predicts how well your posts will do before you even hit post. If it doesn't meet its criteria, good luck having it be seen. Any impressions you do get are from the merciful Ai god, you have very little to do with it. This is all based on my real world observations over the years btw. Growth? Also Ai controlled. You think those are people following you because they like your post? Wrong. It's because of X showing you in their recommendation system, that is it. If you are not recommended, you will not grow, therefore its completely controlled by them. In an attempt to retain users, small accounts are boosted to the moon - I'm sure you have seen a small Nigerian account get millions of views on an old reused video, this is why. They have low blocks / flags on their account and are small / new, so the algo flocks to them like a magnet to a paper clip. They get boosted at the expense of everyone else on the platform; impressions are a finite resource which are now sent to undeserving scammer accounts. Nothing is done to address it. Once flurishing accounts are now completely nerfed. Check any number of large accounts and you will see a massive difference between last year and this. Many have almost completely given up, posting stuff completely different from what made them what they are or down right stopping altogether. When they do post they get a tiny fraction of what they would have gotten a year ago, which really helps motivate them to want to post quality things and try hard. /s This is how it works - (Select) small accounts are boosted, they grow to a certain size, then dropped now that they have been retained / hooked. Once a certain threshold of followers is reached, you are capped. You get low impressions and a slow bleed out of followers from then on since you are used up and old news according to the algo. You have nothing more to offer the platform, based on how you are treated. I have lost count of the number of people who have told me they have tiny accounts elsewhere and get 10x the reach with those dinky accounts vs the account size they have here. That was never the case before. Depreciating follower count was a huge mistake, what is the goal if growing ends up hurting you in the end? I still have faith in X and a few tweaks could fix this place, but the powers at be think everything is great on here. If you get low reach, it's your fault. 'Post bangers' they say. 'Your posting too often, only post 4 times a day' they say. None of that matters if the algo has turned against you because of unknown flags or someone at X just not liking you and nerfing you. 'Under the hood' will reveal all - except it doesn't tell you anything useful other than you have some posts it doesnt like. What are the posts? Who knows, it doesn't tell you. Not helpful whatsoever. I could probably go on for hours here, but the once organic platform this once was, it no longer is. I have cracked the code to a happy life - but most won't take the advice or want to hear it: - Stop using substances (Drugs, Booze, ect) that alter your mood. While they give you a temporary high, it develops dependance and raises the bar for what it takes to make you feel happy. - Stop sitting around doing nothing and being a bum - While everyone needs down time, too much relaxation is a bad thing. Think of it as if you are a sponge, you can only absorb so much before your full and then your just a bloated lump, not able to be any more chill than you already are. - Start being active - it does not take much effort or time to get the amount of activity in that you need to feel happy. Being active releases chemicals in your brain that takes you out of your depressed funk without needing other substances to do this. A 20 minute jog or workout session a few times a week is all it takes. - Start going to church - We have a creator and He needs to be our bedrock, stop trying to rely on yourself or others / things / substances for fulfillment, seek the one true source in Christ alone. TLDR: Stop being a sloth druggie and rely on natural provided remedies and a higher power to escape your funk. For those that like to read: I have not been being active myself and the other day decided to go for a run. After I got back and chilled for a bit I noticed my mood was so much better, I was my happy go lucky self again without the need for any substances to feel this way. I was reliant on booze and weed to feel good - while in moderation this can be ok occasionally, relying on it to fill your void is temporary and ultimately unfulfilling. If you never start having substances, you dont know what your missing - which is actually a good thing. Alpha story time: I never understood why I started to drink - my parents rarley did, I went to a Christian high school and was never subject to it. For me, it was just party mode - I went on a cruise with some friends and one of them had a drinking issue, which I didn't realize till later - he got me into vodka and we lived it up on the ship. I just wanted to keep the party going I guess. But then I realized recently that it could have been my job - I started working where I was when I was 17, a junior in high school. Initially it was fine, but I realized I never felt appreciated there and my boss was a narcacist - it was all about him and I was just a worker bee. Nothing I said or did was good enough, I was always frustrated and angry. Perhaps booze was my way to cope, making me forget about the stress and how undervalued I felt - I didn't start drinking till I was 25. I only say this to possibly help someone else, perhaps your circumstances or job is making you feel worthless, and drinking is an escape. I only stopped once X picked up for me and I felt like I had worth here. I quit drinking 6 months before I was laid off, but by then it was too late. Dwindling clients and years of drinking had made my work relationship get even worse. Find something else to find value in yourself other than work - they don't care about you anyways and any value you feel is meaningless as they will drop you like a hot potato if someone better comes along.
